Broadcast award for Merrion's show

Bo Selecta has been named best comedy at the annual Broadcast awards.

Avid Merrion's Channel 4 show beat fellow nominees Coupling, Dead Ringers, Have I Got News For You and My Family to the title.

In other categories, animated BBC Three series Monkey Dust was named best multichannel programme, ahead of Eddie Izzard's Discovery series Mongrel Nation, among others.

And Friday Night With Jonathan Ross triumphed in the best light entertainment category.

It had been up against Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and Pop Idol.

The awards, judged by a panel of industry experts, were handed out ath the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night.
