Her Lux run out

C4 entertainment chief quits

Channel 4's head of entertainment Danielle Lux has unexpectedly quit her job.

She is leaving the channel immediately after two years in her job, MediaGuardian reports.

It is thought her move was prompted by the imminent arrival as Kevin Lygo as director of programmes.

Lygo was a previous head of entertainment at Channel 4 before moving to Channel 5 in 2001.

His reign produced such successes as Smack The Pony, Trigger Happy TV, Spaced, Da Ali G Show and So Graham Norton.

However, Lux has found it difficult to replicate that success. Her portfolio includes Bo Selecta, The Book Group and the high-profile game show flop Boys and Girls.

Channel 4 chief executive Mark Thompson praised Ms Lux for "bringing a range of talented new stars to the screen", adding: "She has been a valued member of the commissioning team."
