Comic heads Canadian cast

Sean Cullen is to star in the Canadian stage version of The Producers.

The comic, a regular visitor to the British comedy circuit, will lead the all-Canadian cast when the show opens on November 15.

Cullen, who shot to prominence with the band Corky And The Juice Pigs alongside Phil Nichol, will share top billing with classical actor Michael Therriault

This is the fourth production of Mel Brookes' musical. The original is still running on Broadway, a Los Angeles version stars Seinfeld's Jason Alexander and a third is on tour in the US.

The show opens in London in autumn 2004, with Lee Evans and Robert Lindsay tipped to take the roles of unscrupulous producers Bialystock and Bloom.
