My American Family

Another sitcom to cross the pond?

My Family could be the next British sitcom to cross the Atlantic.

New York's DLT Entertainment is preparing to pitch the show to US networks, according the Hollywood Reporter.

The comedy, which stars Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wanamaker, was created by an American, former Seinfeld executive Fred Barron, and employs the US system of using a pool of writers.

DLT Entertainment has previous experience of bringing British comedies to the States, importing Man About The House, which became Three's Company, and Keep In The Family (Too Close For Comfort).

My Family became BBC1's highest-rated sitcom in five years when it premiered in 2000.

If it does transfer to the States, it will join a growing number of exports. Coupling and The Kumars At Number 42 have already made the journey, and similar plans for Father Ted and The Savages have been announced in recent weeks.
