Pacemaker for Carson, 76

Frank Carson has undergone heart surgery.

The Irish stand-up had a pacemaker fitted in a two-hour on Thursday.

The 76-year-old from Blackpool told The People: "I feel fit as a fiddle.

"All I need to do now is loose my double chin, shed some weight and I'm hoping Steven Spielberg will cast me in a romantic lead."

Dr Grahame Goode at the town's Victoria Hospital, said: "We gave him a sedative so he stopped telling jokes."
