Carry on carrying on

Plans afoot for new film

Plans are afoot to make a new Carry On film with a fresh generation of comics.

Producers are currently trying to raise the money to finance Carry On London.

Casting has not yet taken place, but names being suggested include David Jason in the Sid James role and Graham Norton replacing Kenneth Williams.

The film will be made at Pinewood, home of all the classic Carry Ons, and shooting is set to start next year.

The plot reportedly involves a limousine firm hired to ferry stars to an awards ceremony, The Herberts.

However, the last attempt to revive the genre was generally considered a failure, with new comics including Julian Clary, Rik Mayall and Alexei Sayle starring alongside the old guard like Jim Dale and Bernard Cribbins in 1992's Carry On Columbus.
