Hunt is on for new female comics

A new talent hunt has been launched to find the best new female comic in the UK.

The winner of the Funny Women award will receive £2,000, a paid gig at the Comedy Store and a slot at a West End charity gala show.

The talent quest, sponsored by Babycham, also aims to raise money for breast cancer charities.

Heats will take place across the UK from June 17, with the final, hosted by Sandi Toksvig, at London's Comedy Store on July 7.

Entrants are now invited from comics aged over 18 who can perform seven minutes of original material. Performers must not have performed stand up for more than three years.
