New Billy book part of £2m deal

Pamela Stephenson to write another book about husband Billy Connolly as part of a new £2million deal.

Her biography was one of the publishing successes of recent years - selling 840,000 copies in hardback and about the same again in paperback.

Now the comedian turned psychologist is cashing in on that success, signing a three-book deal with publisher Hodder Headline.

The first book will be an account of their past 12 months together, billed as "a year of living dangerously with Billy."

During 2002, Connolly turned 60 and hosted a lavish party at his Highlands home, where guests included royalty and some of the biggest names in showbusiness.

But he was also the face of the ill-fated relaunch of the National Lottery - a role that drew much criticism.

Stephenson's two other books are not yet decided. The size of the deal has not been official disclosed, but figures of £2million to £3million have been bandied about. She was paid a reported £100,000 for Billy.
