Red Dwarf: The plot

Movie details leak out

More details of the Red Dwarf movie have emerged.

Hollywood gossip website Ain't It Cool has obtained publicity material for the film, and posted it online.

The blurb reveals that the plot features the crew of Red Dwarf in battle with the Homo Sapienoids - a fearsome combination of flesh and machine that have taken over the Solar System.

The bad guys send Death Ships to hunt down long-haul space freighters, including Red Dwarf, to eradicate the last remaining humans.

Filming on the $10million is set to start this summer, after an 18-month delay caused by funding problems, and it could hit screens by Easter 2004.

The publicity material was apparently gathered at the American Film Market, a trade fair that attracts around 7,000 film executives currently taking place in Santa Monica.

Last week, co-creator Doug Naylor refused to be drawn on the plot, saying only: "It will involve a red spaceship."

This is the show that celebrated the launch of Nick Helm's album in 2016, and has previously been unseen by anyone who was not in the O2 Forum Kentish Town that night.

With typical hyperbole, the show is described thusly: 'Under-rehearsed, under-prepared and under pressure, Nick and his band somehow managed to pull together the greatest show in the last 27 years of living memory. That show went down as a thing of legend, often spoken about by weary travellers around campfires, but thought to have been lost to the sands of time forever.'
