Eddie shifts his discs

10,000 DVDs sold in a week

Eddie Izzard's latest DVD has sold 10,000 copies in the States in its first week of release.

And the comic has been mobbed by fans at signing sessions across the country.

A scheduled two-hour appearance at the Virgin Megastore in West Hollywood stretched to five hours - with one family making a six-hour trek from Phoenix for a few moments with Izzard.

Signings in New York and San Francisco attracted equally dedicated fans, one bunch flying from Florida for the Manhattan signing.

Again, the scheduled two-hour appearances went on for almost twice as long as Izzard signed copies of the new Dress To Kill DVD.

"My arm almost came off," Izzard said. "It's not the hand, but the elbow. It's been worth it, though.

"It's been great to meet people up close and personal. It's good to see such an eclectic bunch of people with interesting personalities, especially braving the freezing cold weather in New York."
