Kay: I kicked a heckler

Steel-toed vengeance for comic

Peter Kay has admitted that he once kicked a heckler in the head.

The normally mild-mannered comic lashed out after the punter threw a pint of beer at him during a gig in Portsmouth.

The Phoenix Nights star said: "I just said to him, "Come here, son" and he walked to the front.

"I booted him in the head. I had steel toecaps on and I proper booted him.

"He was a right arsehole this fella, he could have glassed me."

Kay's comments came in the October issue of FHM, where he also reveals that fellow comics are often jealous of his success.

"Some are really awful, but they never say it to your face. There are going to be comedians that are bitter, but of they want to go through life with a big chip on their shoulder, then let 'em."

* In the same magazine, Johnny Vegas reveals that he got into a drunken fight with a man in the street after a row with his new wife - but both were too inebriated to really see it through.
