Viewers to write sitcom

C4's interactive idea

Channel 4 is giving viewers the chance to help write a sitcom.

The show's script will be updated live on the Internet as contributed ideas are incorporated.

Although the bulk of the material will be penned by writer and director Annie Griffin, viewers will be able to suggest potential characters and plot twists.

She will assess the ideas and alter the plot accordingly.

The resulting sitcom, called The Script, is likely to air on Channel 4 late this year or early in 2003.

Griffin has also written the Channel 4 sitcom The Book Group, which will be shown this spring.
