Fans bombarded with junk emails

Roy Cubby Brown fans have been bombarded with hundreds of junk emails after a virus infected his mailing list.

Beleagured fans posted desperate pleas to stop the mounting spam, but their responses only made matters worse

The list, maintained from the foul-mouthed comic's official site chubbybrown.com, was eventually shut down on Saturday night, reducing the chaos to a trickle of emails bouncing from closed accounts.

One mailing list member, who received 1,200 emails, said: "It was ridiculous, it took almost two hours to download the catalogue of virus, virus warnings, junk emails and undelivered messages.

"I posted something back asking to unsubscribe, but that made things worse."

The problem has now been resolved, and those that maintain the list have apologised for the inconvenience
