Record breakers

109 comics on one bill

A total of 109 comics have set a new record for the number of comedy acts in one night.

The gig, at Manchester's Dancehouse Theatre on Wednesday, raised more than £1,500 for a local hospital.

Acts had just 90 seconds on stage each.

Writing on the Chortle forums, one of the participants, Matt Kendall, said: "The audience were great, the acts were superb and once again Manchester has proved that it is the number one city for live comedy in the UK."

A previous record-breaking bid was held at the Edinburgh festival this year, with 45 comics taking to the stage in 45 minutes.
