The Comedians reunite

Seventies stars stage Christmas gig

The cast of The Comedians are reuniting for a special Christmas concert.

Stan Boardman, Roy Walker, Jim Bowen, Ken Goodwin and Duggie Brown are getting back together after the success of a sell-out concert in April.

They will be joined by Norman Collier and George Roper, who has recently undergone treatment for cancer.

The show is produced by Jonnie Hamp, a former executive Granada TV executive, who created the TV show, which ran from 1971 to 1985 with a revival attempt in 1992.

A show spokesman said: "Asides from being a springboard also for many other stand-ups, it is widely regarded as being groundbreaking at it's time, as it shifted the emphasis away from the schmaltz of TV spectaculars to simple bloke-and-a-mic stand-up."

The reunion is at the Blackpool Opera House on December 15.
