TV slams TV

Lily Savages execs

Lily Savage creator Paul Grady has criticised TV executives who know nothing about comedy.

He said he is fed up of inexperienced teenagers telling him what was funny. And he wants to tell them: "Come back when you've done 14 years in the clubs."

He added: "They know nothing, half of them. What they know about TV you can write on an ant's bum."

The Liverpudlian comic also said he had no fears about being sacked or roasted if he stepped over the line during one of his near-the-knuckle Lily Live shows, which are to return soon.

"I'm not bothered," he told Richard and Judy on their last This Morning appearance today. "I'll always get another job, me."

Grady also took a dig at Blankety Blank, pretending to fall asleep when he said that another series was in the pipeline, and sarcastically claiming to love it.

A pensioner called the show to say that she had to endure plenty of jibes because of Grady's creation, as her name was also Lily Savage.

The comic explained that he chose the name as Savage was his mum's maiden name, and Lily was a softer name to complement it.

And he added: "No offence, but all good brasses are called Lily."
