Rob Brydon to host new prime-time ITV quiz show

The Floor follows US version with Rob Lowe

Rob Brydon is to host a new prime-time ITV quiz show called The Floor.

The programme is an adaptation of a Dutch TV format, based around a giant LED floor with 81 squares, each representing the specialist subject of the 81 people who start the show.

A random contestant challenges an adjoining opponent in a quiz duel on their opponents category. If they win, they take the square and send their opponent home.

Brydon said: ‘The Floor is a quiz show like no other - big, bold and bursting with excitement. I'm thrilled to be stepping onto it and guiding the contestants through the competition. Let's light up the floor!’

ITV executive Katie Rawcliffe said: ‘The Floor, with its compelling game play, is an excellent addition to our roster of existing popular quiz shows.’

The format has been sold to 25 countries, with Rob Lowe having fronted the US version for three series, with two more already commissioned.

Maarten Meijs from creators Talpa Studios told The Sun: ‘The UK has an unmatched legacy when it comes to quiz shows, setting an incredibly high bar.

‘Having ITV adapt The Floor is a true testament to the format's strength, originality, and continued international success.’

They are making the show with UK production company South Shore.
