Liz Kingsman

After getting attention one third of the sketch group Massive Dad, Liz Kingsman had a breakthrough with her One Woman Show in 2021, winning her a South Bank Award and a nomination at Dave's Edinburgh Comedy Awards the following year. She also starred in the  French political comedy series Parlement, set in Brussels just after the Brexit referendum.

Liz Kingsman up for an Olivier Award

One Woman Show nominated in West End's top accolades

Liz Kingsman has been nominated for an Olivier Award for her One Woman Show.

The comedian has been shortlisted for best entertainment or comedy play in the prestigious awards recognising the best of West End Theatre.

She is up against the London Palladium  production of Jack And The Beanstalk with Dawn French and Julian Clary; My Son’s A Queer, (But What Can You Do?) by social-media star Rob Madge; and  the live version of the 1988Japanese animated fantasy film My Neighbour Totoro which was staged at the Barbican Theatre.

French may be reunited with her double-act partner at the ceremony on Sunday April 2 – as Sister Act, which starred Jennifer Saunders and Beverley Knight, is up for best musical revival.

Comic Vikki Stone also claims a nomination as Hey Duggee, the CBeebies show which she adapted for the stage with director Matthew Xia has been nominated for best family show.

My Neighbour Totoro leads the nominations this year, with nine. The full list of nominees is here.

Directed by Adam Brace, One Woman Show started life at the Soho Theatre in 2021 before running at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe – where it was nominated for best show in the comedy awards – and transferring to London’s Ambassadors Theatre in December.
