Is James Acaster doing Celebrity Traitors?

The Sun says he is

James Acaster is reportedly taking part in the next series of The Celebrity Traitors.

The comic will be heading to the Scottish Highlands soon with the other contestants to start filming the BBC One show,  The Sun claims today.

Acaster doesn’t have much in his diary in the month after playing The Lowry in Salford this week, other than a tour gig in Leeds on April 30 then the Machynlleth Comedy Festival over the May bank holiday.

Fellow comedian Jason Manford has previously let slip he has been in talks to take part, too, but joked that he’s waiting for producers to ‘come down the ladder of showbusiness’ before giving him the green light.

Other names rumoured to be taking part in the new series include Hugh Bonneville,  Richard E Grant, Daisy May Cooper, Liam Gallagher, Cheryl, Michael Sheen, Amol Rajan, Carol Kirkwood, Hugh Grant, Danny Dyer, Alison Hammond.

However the BBC does not comment on speculation on the line-up.

As well as his stand-up Acaster is known to wider audiences for Taskmaster, the food podcast Off Menu and appearing in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire as Lars Pinfield. He also made a notorious appearance on a celebrity edition of The Great British Bake Off.

The Sun also reminds readers that Acaster ‘knows plenty about feeling betrayed’ – which may come in handy in Ardross Castle – after losing girlfriend Louise Ford to Rowan Atkinson. The story formed the basis for one of his routines.

Producers are thought to be keen to sign comedians for season two after Alan Carr won last year’s version, ahead of the likes of Nick Mohammed, Lucy Beaumont, Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross.

Carr is now making a Disney+ programme about buying a Scottish Retreat of his own, Ayton Castle.
