No second series for Chris McCausland’s talk show
Comic says he wants to follow 'other opportunities'
Chris McCausland’s talk show will not be returning for a second series.
Newspaper reports today said that ITV had axed the format as part of a move away from studio-based chat shows.
However, the comic’s publicist told Chortle: ‘It was Chris who stepped away from this show. It was a great experience but he’s looking at other opportunities and there have been a lot of offers since Strictly.’
The news comes days after it was revealed that McCausland is making a BBC Two documentary on how technology has changed the way he has been able to navigate the world after losing his sight.
The stand-up will also be visiting Silicon Valley for the show, entitled Seeing Into The Future, to look at forthcoming cutting-edge developments.
His chat show aired for 11 weeks on Saturday mornings last summer and featured guests include Pixie Lott, Rob Beckett and Taj Atwell.
The Sun quoted an unnamed TV insider saying: ‘Chris was a breath of a fresh air, but ultimately there are no plans for his show to return.’
The comic is also partway through a massive UK tour called Yonks!, with dates stretching through to May next year.
He will also be releasing his memoir this autumn. When the autobiography was announced in January, he said: ‘ I thought Strictly was terrifying but my book has a release date and I haven’t started writing it yet. Don’t worry, I’m going to start right now. It will be really funny, I promise.’
