Heckled by yoga

WTF: Weekly Trivia File

• 'I don't think a lot of people are honest in their comedy, I just think that's my signature.' Ruby Wax

• BBC Northern Ireland's publicity shot for their panel show Bad Language – above–  is hardly flattering to Susan Calman. She tweeted yesterday: 'Can you get a photo for Bad Language that doesn't make me look appalling? All the boys look great'

• Jimmy Carr says that of all the comedians who got pissed in the filming of Drunk History, Tom Rosenthal holds his alcohol the best. 'He downed an alarming quantity of booze but he was still able to hold it together. Very impressive,' said Carr - who provides the voiceover for the show. And as for its messiest moment? 'There was an incident in series one involving Andrew Maxwell, two bottles of champagne and… do I have to paint a picture? A lot of people have been sick.'

Reggie Watts has premiered a VR project called Waves at the Sundance Film Festival. And how did the surreal film come about? Wired magazine reports: 'The idea to mix big, bold visuals with slow, sly comedy originated, naturally, with weed.'

• It's not often a comic is heckled but yoga, but Evan Desmarais was confronted with just that when two drunk girls snuck into a Sydney comedy club just as he was winding up his set last weekend. One of the pair jumped on to the stage and started striking poses - some of which may not exactly be official yoga stances. The attention-seeker rather belatedly regretted her actions, summing up: 'I think I fucked up.'

• Janey Godley is part of the #jc4pm tour to get Jeremy Corbyn into Downing Street… but, as the Independent reported yesterday, she admits she's not even a Labour supporter, having joined the SNP in 2014. Despite not wanting to vote for him, she says she still wants Corbyn in No 10 with the SNP in charge North of the Border… though of course Labour's trouncing at the nationalists' hands in Scotland was a major cause of their downfall last election.

• We've been enjoying the descriptions of comedians at a website called WikiPicky.com – clearly a junk-status content farm whose drones don't necessarily excel in English. For example, their description of Paul Sinha, whose agent Sally Carter unearthed the site, read: 'With lots of speculations and rumors about him being a gay by sexuality, those things have come to a rest now. Not because the fact has been proven or denied but because of the uncertainty of that rumor. With no sort of report about him being spotted with his partner, there are many pictures where he has been together with lots of other people. That doesn't necessarily mean he is a gay, nor does it help to deny that he isn't.'

• Here's another: 'Ross Noble is famous for his big round eyes and his thick eyebrows that are pointed upwards. He has got a very long nose and small mouth with thin lips. He has got a serious looking face for a comedian.'

• And another: 'You might have heard Holly Walsh shouting and speaking on the radio… It seems like her tall and slim feet give an impression of her being taller than her actual height…'

• And speaking of height, they say of 4ft 11in Lucy Porter: 'Standing tall with the height of five feet eleven inches.' Oopsie.

• A fan once asked Jo Brand for an autograph – while she was in labour in hospital. 'It was actually a doctor from another part of the hospital who came in with their autograph book,' she tells Jonathan Ross on his chat show which airs tomorrow. 'How inappropriate!'

• You might have thought that being awake for 37 hours to witness the birth of his first child, Stuart Goldsmith would have wanted to do nothing more than dive under the duvet. But, being a comedian, he couldn't pass a comedy club on the way home without popping in, just to say hi to pals. But while he was at Bristol's Club Loco, the headliner called to say they couldn't make it – of course – so Stu stepped in. 'So I improvised my way through a headlining 30-minute set, mostly about the baby I'd just had, having not slept since my fiance's waters had broken 37 hours previously,' he said. 'The adrenaline poured out of me, Pete palmed cash in my hand onstage as he thanked me, and I walked out of the building without stopping to talk to anyone, up the hill and into bed, feeling like an American comic's DVD intro…'

• OK, one more WikiPicky, about Bridget Christie: 'Seeing her pictures, she seems to be tall with a good height. She has many of her hot and sexy pictures in the media and in her Instagram account. Christie has been in a marital relation since 2006. She is said to be a married to her boyfriend but the truth behind this saying is still unknown.' Go feminism!
