Radio 4 comedies now downloadable

A tight 5: July 14

ALMOST all of Radio 4’s comedy output will be made available to download from this week. The BBC’s iPlayer radio app on iOS, Android and Kindle is being updated so that listeners can download shows and listen to them offline up to 30 days after broadcast.

A BATCH of comedians are to take part in four Fifteen To One Celebrity Specials, hosted by Adam Hills. Those taking part include Sean Lock, Joe Lycett, Russell Kane, Vic Reeves, Milton Jones, Ed Byrne, Isy Suttie, Dave Spikey, David Baddiel, Rhod Gilbert, Sara Pascoe, Gary Delaney, Matt Forde, Rob Beckett, Julian Clary, Henning When, Zoe Lyons, Paul Chowdhry and Ellie Taylor.

AMY POEHLER is to make a rare UK TV appearance on Friday, as the guest on Channel 4’s The Last Leg.

SIMON EVANS is to perform a live show based on economics, after immersing himself in the subject for Radio 4’s Simon Evans Goes To Market. The comic will be at the Soho Theatre in London from August 10 to 22 with the new show, called In The Money.

COMEDIAN Bryony Kimmings is to deliver this year’s Fringe Central opening address to participants. She said: ‘I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences; from insightful ways to get noticed to the best places to get drunk.’ The speech takes place at 11am on August 7 and free tickets are here.
