Steve Postgate – Original Review

Review by Steve Bennett

Though little-known, Postgate is a distinctive voice on comedy's new act circuit.

He's a skilful exponent of surrealism - and not simply the easy incongruous juxtapositions of less inventive minds, but a creator of detailed, witty images that are as vivid as they are bizarre.

His easy, unexciteable delivery and expressive facial contortions perfectly complement the offbeat material, but if there's one thing that lets this some-time short film-maker down, it's his punchlines: often relying on some hidden wordplay to bring his flights of fancy back down to earth.

Whatever the destination, the journey, however, is always enjoyable - and this ingenious and original material deserves a wider audience.
