A Lovely Horse episode replaces song contest final
Irish TV viewers will be shown the Eurovision-themed episode of Father Ted in place of the song contest’s final on Saturday.
The Irish national broadcaster is boycotting the event in protest at Israel’s inclusion. So instead, RTÉ2 will air the sitcom’s episode, A Song For Europe, in which priests Ted and Dougal perform My Lovely Horse.
Spain and Slovenia will also not be broadcasting Eurovision in protest over Israel’s war in Gaza, while the Netherlands and Iceland are also not sending acts to compete, but will screen the event.
Ireland has won the Eurovision Song Contest seven times – a joint record with Sweden.
