Donald Trump receives the Malcolm Hardee award

...well, not really, but you have to appreciate a cunning stunt

Venezuela’s opposition leader, Maria Corina Machado, isn’t the only one trying to butter up Donald Trump with an award he didn’t earn.

The petty US President beamed with glee when the the South American politician presented him with her Nobel Peace Prize medal last week – even though the Nobel committee was very clear the accolade was non-transferrable.

Now President Obonjo – the ‘comedy dictator’ character of Benjamin Bello has tried to curry favour by handing over his Malcolm Hardee award.

‘Shocking news!’ award founder John Fleming posted on social media.

The picture may be an AI mock-up - but it’s as meaningful as the peace prize Fifa cravenly handed over to Trump.

President Obonjo won the Malcolm Hardee Award in 2019 as the act most likely to make a million quid after he hit the headlines by accusing E4 and BBC Studios for ripping off his alter-ego for The Colonel Banjoko Show. The awards also present a prize for 'cunning stunt' for the best publicity idea at the Fringe.

Today it has been revealed that as he makes aggressive moves on Greenland, Trump texted  Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to say he no longer feels ‘an obligation to think purely of peace’ after  the Scandinavian nation ‘decided not to give’ him the peace prize.
