Comic used to be her head of year at school

comedyAdolescence star Erin Doherty has revealed she was once disciplined by  Romesh Ranganthan when he was still a teacher.

The 33-year-old – who played child psychologist Briony Ariston in the Netflix hit – told how the comic was her head of sixth form at Hazelwick School in Three Bridges before he made it as a stand-up.

Speaking to Sky News to promote her Disney+ series A Thousand Blows, the actor said  'You know the comedian Romesh Ranganathan? He was my head of year. How cool is that?

'He was a maths teacher but I never had him for maths. My sister did. But he was my head of sixth form, my head of year.

'Basically I got kicked off English lit because I didn't read any of the books and they pulled me, and I think it was my dad, in. So we had a chat with Romesh Ranganathan when he was just Mr Ranganathan. And yeah I had like a chat with Mr Ranganathan to get kicked off of English lit.

'So that's my little weird crossing of paths.'

Asked if they have met in the years since finding fame, Doherty – who also played Princess Anne in the third and fourth seasons of  The Crown   – replied: 'No and I want to! But yeah it's kind of cool.'
