Montgomery's cheeky award sponsorship

Kiwi comic Guy Montgomery has pulled off a playful prank at the  New Zealand Comedy Guild Awards.

The Spelling Bee host has kindly put his hand in his pocket to sponsor one of the accolades to the tune of $250 – but, as the Popbitch newsletter reports, his choice might raise eyebrows.

Because while the comic said he was acting 'as an incredible ally to women in comedy'  all the promotional material now refers to ‘Guy Montgomery Best Female Comedian’

As one social media user pointed out: ’It really looks like you won, and all the others are the runners-up.’
