Curb your enthusiasm, Jeff Garlin's not coming...
Comic leaves audience disappointed in cash row
Jeff Garlin left dozens of comedy fans disappointed after failing to perform – in an incident that wouldn’t have been out of place Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The comedian was booked to play the Calabasas Country Club in Southern California last week for a reported $800 fee. But when organisers offered him a cheque, Garlin – who plays Larry David’s manager Jeff Greene on the hit sitcom – insisted on cash.
They declined, so the comic, who turned 63 yesterday, walked, according to a report in the New York Post’s Page Six gossip column.
An insider told the newspaper: ‘The crowd was pissed. Most of them had come to see Jeff.’
But another source said it wasn’t just about the money, explaining: ‘Jeff can be a very neurotic guy. He can get hung up on things.’
Representatives for Garlin – who started his career in Chicago’s famed Second City comedy troupe and released a stand-up special, Our Man In Chicago, on Netflix in 2019- did not respond to the Post’s story.
