Shop used in Open All House goes under the hammer

comedyThe corner shop used as Arkwright’s in Open All Hours is being auctioned off.

The site of Beautique hairdressers in Doncaster was used for exterior shots in the Ronnie Barker sitcom, which ran from 1976 to 1985, and its follow-up, Still Open All Hours, which ran from 2013 to 2020.

Now it is being put up for sale by auction house Pugh on October 15 and 16 with a guide price of £150,000.

The building was saved from demolition in 2007 after campaigners fought off council plans to bulldoze it.

It comes with two self-contained flats on the upper floor – but the shop unit formerly occupied by the Salon is currently empty.
