Paddy McGuinness shares a memory

Paddy McGuinness has told of the time he almost got caught with a naked Peter Kay in his hotel room.

The Top Gun presenter said his Phoenix Nights co-star got locked out of his room after playing a prank, and they needed staff to come to the rescue.

He said it happened in the Soho Hotel during a trip to London, explaining ‘Peter called him out of the blue’ and found they were staying in the same place.

‘What room are you in?’ Kay said. ’80,’ McGuinness replied.

Kay: ‘So am I!’

McGuinness: ‘What do you mean?’

"With that I heard a knock on the internal door that connected the rooms and Peter was only staying slap bang next to me,’ the recalled.

‘It was all great fun until Peter swanned into my room starkers, only for the door to lock behind him.

‘The dressing gown was too small for him, there was no way it would close at the front. I’d have to call down to reception to send someone up to unlock the door.

He detailed the incident in his recent book My Lifey, and it was reported in the Daily Star today.

‘How do you explain that one?,’ he added. ‘Reception: "Good evening, Mr McGuinness, how can I help?"

‘Me: "I’ve got one of the nation’s best-loved comedians in my room with his cock out. Can you let him back into his own room, please?"

He said the manager knew who they both were but t ‘just opened up the locked door and left. That was the good thing about the Soho Hotel, it was discreet.’
