Office finale tops Christmas sitcom chart

...followed by the Big Bang Theory

comedyThe final instalment of The Office is the most-loved festive sitcom episode of all time, a new survey has found.

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s 2013 show brought closure to the tentative romance between Tim and Dawn, and showed David Brent finally rejecting laddish banter.

The episode has 9.5 stars out of ten on IMDB, which researchers used to calculate the favourite Christmas shows.

At No 2 was Big Bang Theory’s 2008 offering The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis, followed by A Very Sunny Christmas from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, made in 2010.

A longlist was drawn up from a survey of 3,256 viewers, which a team at OnBuy used to determine the best-loved from the IMDB scores and number of votes each received.

The rest of the top 15 comprises Arrested Development, Extras, Mr Bean, The Office US, Peep Show, Community, Seinfeld, Two And A Half Men, The Thich Of It, Friends, Frasier and  Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
