Guess how much the BBC's head of comedy gets paid

Fun for all! (Except maybe the man whose salary is in the public domain)

comedyThe BBC’s annual report was released today – including the salary details of some of its biggest stars. But not all, since many are paid via independent production companies - including the Corporation’s own commercial arm.

The report boasted proudly of the BBC’s track record in comedy, saying: ‘As the home of British comedy, no other broadcaster is as committed to finding and nurturing future stars and championing portrayals of our diverse national character.’

And it cited such varied critical and audiences hits as  This Country, Peter Kay’s Car Share, Tracey Breaks The News, Inside No 9, Detectorists,  People Just Do Nothing and more.

Also revealed is the salary band of the BBC’s head of comedy commissioning, Shane Allen, as well as his expenses claims… which boringly contained absolutely nothing incriminating at all.

But here’s a fun game: guess how much the man who dictates which comedy shows make it to BBC screens earns from licence-payers…
