Did Rosco McClelland's past thwart his plans for a free wedding?

Rosco McClelland thought he'd found the perfect way to pay for his wedding... only to be thwarted at the last minute.

The 2016 Scottish Comedian of the Year and his fiancée went a long way in the audition process for the BBC One Saturday night show Wedding Day Winners, hosted by Rob Beckett and Lorraine Kelly, in which contestants compete for a chance to be wed in front of the nation.

Ultimately though, they didn't make it. And McClelland speculates that 'the reasonable explanation' was that the show already had a comedian and Scottish woman hosting, so it would be odd if the happy couple fitted the same profile.

Or, it may have had something to do with a researcher making further enquiries about how they met at a nightclub. And the comic explaining that he'd been selling ecstasy at the time...
