Baby Lame picks their Perfect Playlist

The comedy favourites of Baby Lame, who is heading to the Edinburgh Fringe with their Britney-Spears inspired show Hit Me Baby One More Lame!

Patti Harrison

Hands down, Patti is my favourite comedian at the moment. I went to see her last show My Huge Tits Huge Because They Are Infected NOT FAKE! four times.

Watching Patti getting rawdogged by the mouse Stuart Little live while her tits were leaking infected pus (not that kind, sicko) is truly one of the most profound things I have ever witnessed on stage. It's not just comedy – it's life! It's theatre! She is also an amazing singer and writes really beautifully – like in this song called I Am 11.

Meet The Feebles

I hate people who love The Muppets. You're a grown adult singing along with Michael Caine to Christmas Carols in a packed cinema – get a grip.

I like my puppets more unhinged, edgier and with big swinging boobies… step forward Peter Jackson's 1989 masterpiece Meet the Feebles, a movie that has it all – violence, swearing, gross-out jokes and puppet pornography. Miss Piggy could never.

If I could star in any film role it would be that of wronged starlet Heidi The Hippo. After being fat-shamed and replaced by her evil lover/agent Beltch The Walrus, she does what any vexed hippo would do – gets a machine gun and launches into an eight-minute puppet killing spree.

For me it's a very powerful and healing moment, and an energy I am most definitely channeling into my new solo show.

MAD TV: Whitney Screws Up the Classics

I need to stress that I will always love Whitney Houston and have the utmost respect for her talent and her legacy. I also need to stress that I don't think punching down in comedy is OK – it's tired, lazy, and there are so many straight white men to aim thinly veiled comedic attacks at.

That said, I am a total hypocrite when it comes to Debra Wilson's impressions of Whitney on MAD TV. Watching a cracked-out Whitney screwing up classics like Somewhere Over the Rainbow is so dumb, and Debra's impression is spot-on and properly hilarious.

It's not right, but (I think?) it's ok. And honestly — who wouldn't have wanted to go on a big bender with peak Whitney?!

Mickey Mouse Club: Really Moist Cake

I'm doing a show all about Britney Spears, so my next pick is from Disney's Mickey Mouse Club – my first introduction to Britney, which I discovered as a small child on a family holiday to Florida.

There are loads of weird clips online, including 11-year-old Britney and Justin Timberlake belting out a definitely-not-age-appropriate cover of I Feel For You by Chaka Khan.

My favourite, though, is Really Moist Cake – a sketch that starts with Britney brattishly declaring her mother's cake is too dry. What transpires is truly bizarre and ends with what looks like a full-blown scat party, with Britney and her family being smeared in a shit-brown substance… yum!

Troll 2: Sexy Witch Popcorn

This scene from Troll 2 contains what I genuinely believe to be the greatest sex scene ever committed to film (fight me). A sexy 1980s witch attempts to seduce a young twink with a corn on the cob, scored to the tiniest, most unconvincing fake saxophone music you have ever heard. It is flawless and I aspire to it daily.

Barry from EastEnders and Rustie Lee: Dead Ringer For Love from Big Brother's Bit on the Side

Let me  toot my own horn with this one, for some bizarre reason during my TV career  I was given the opportunity to produce not one, but TWO musical numbers starring the iconic Rustie Lee and Barry from EastEnders (the other a cover of Corona’s Rhythm of my Life).

I can’t remember the exact reason, but it was something to do with Channel 5 needing to fill time… regardless I was granted full creative control and a budget of about £50 to make this magic come to life.

Seeing Rustie and Barry channel their inner Cher and Meatloaf as they (ala Whitney) screw up the classic Dead Ringer For Love will never not spark joy in my life. As made clear from Rustie’s delivery, neither know the words AT ALL, resulting in gorgeous pure car crash TV. The funniest thing about all of this is that I actually got paid to make it!

• Baby Lame: Hit Me Baby One More Lame! is on at Pleasance Courtyard at 22:50 from August 5.
