Operation Mincemeat heads to Australia

Fifth production of comedy musical announced

Comedy musical Operation Mincemeat is to open in Australia next year.

The show – which began in London’s tiny New Diorama fringe theatre – will open at the Comedy Theatre in Melbourne in September as the next stage in its world tour.

News of the tour expansion was announced simultaneously on stage yesterday at the show’s performances in London, Norwich, New York and Chicago  – at evening shows in the UK and matinees in the US.

Producer Jon Thoday, of Avalon, said: ‘It’s incredibly exciting to be invited to produce Operation Mincemeat in Australia and to be able to bring the show to a whole new audience.

‘From its beginnings in a 77-seat London fringe theatre, the show is now playing simultaneously in the West End and on Broadway, with a world tour under way. Australia will be the fifth production of Operation Mincemeat and the next chapter in its extraordinary journey.’

The search for the cast will commence in early 2027.

Here is a clip of all the actors playing the role of Ewen Montagu breaking the news. They are Julia Knitel on Broadway, Madeleine Jackson-Smith in the West End, Holly Sumpton on the UK tour and Katie Kleiger on the North American tour.
