Mae Martin signs Netflix deal

Including new stand-up special

Mae Martin has signed a deal to develop projects with Netflix.

The Canadian comic will record a stand-up special for the streamer, which will now have first refusal on any other series Martin develops.

The stand-up told Hollywood trade site Variety – which revealed the news – ‘Over the last seven years I’ve been lucky to build relationships at Netflix that have felt supportive and creatively empowering, allowing my stories (and weird jokes about snow globes, etc.) to reach a global audience.

‘I’m so grateful to continue that relationship, and this vote of confidence will allow me to elevate other voices as well! I can’t wait to show everyone what I’ve been cooking up’

Martin’s semi-autobiographical series Feel Good previously aired on Netflix. The cast also included Charlotte Ritchie, Lisa Kudrow, and Phil Burgers, aka Dr Brown.
