West End to host a Big Jewish Comedy Gala

'It means a great deal to know there's still support in our industry'

A major West End theatre is to host a showcase for Jewish comedians following a series of high-profile cancellations on the circuit.

The Big Jewish Comedy Gala at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on January 11 will be compered by Philip Simon and feature Rachel Creeger – both of whom lost their Edinburgh Fringe venue at the last minute this summer.

Simon, pictured, said: ’Having gone through the most horrendous experience with two Edinburgh Free Fringe venues cancelling my shows in August 2025 simply due to my Jewish heritage, to know there is still so much support within our industry means a great deal.'

And Creeger added: 'Following a very challenging time for many of us, to have a venue with the prestigious pedigree of the Theatre Royal Haymarket proudly stand by us as Jewish entertainers is hugely validating.'

The event will raise funds for the Community Security Trust, a charity that protects British Jews from antisemitism and terrorism.

Simon Brodkin will headline the evening with support acts including Sara Barron, Olivia Lee and Bennett Arron.

Danny Cohen, president of Access Entertainment, which owns and operates the Theatre Royal Haymarket, said: 'We stand against antisemitism in all its forms and the boycotting of Jewish and Israeli artists.'

Tickets are available here.
