Live Comedy Association survey reopens

Help research into the state of the industry

A major survey into the UK live comedy sector has reopened following requests from those who were unable to participate in its initial launch earlier this year.

The Live Comedy Association's research project seeks responses from comedians, promoters, producers, festivals, clubs and venues across the country to assess the state of the industry

It will remain open here until the end of Friday October 24. Responses are anonymous and take approximately ten minutes to complete.

The association was established in 2020 in response to fears over insufficient public funding and government support during the pandemic.

Since its formation, the organisation has lobbied parliamentary for live comedy within the UK's creative industries, organised professional development workshops and conducted a previous study into the industry which put its value to the British economy at £1billion.

Jessica Toomey, co-chair of the LCA,  said: ‘the first sector survey report we published earlier this year, based on the 2024 survey, was vital to our work and making our voice heard by politicians and decision makers.

‘We need to keep up the pressure on governments and policy makers and our annual sector survey is a crucial part of us hearing from those working in live comedy and understanding more.’

The survey is a partnership between the Live Comedy Association, British Comedy Guide and Brunel University of London's Centre for Comedy Studies Research.

Meanwhile, the Live Comedy Association continues its crowdfunding drive to support its work here.
