NextUp launches new act competition at the Comedy Store

Streamed and live

Stand-up streaming service NextUp is launching a new act competition at the Comedy Store.

The first monthly heat of Live Or Die  takes place at the venerated London venue next week and runs until December,  where the winner will be awarded £500 cash and the opportunity for their first special to be filmed for NextUp

The format has contestants ‘rushed on and off-stage in quick succession’ and then voted on by the audience in the room and by those watching online. Both victors then return the next month to do a longer six- to nine- minute set.

Amy Williams, NextUp’s producer said: ‘It’s  a quality, fast-paced new act competition that packs a punch. And if you’re in the room, there’s a chance you’ll be randomly selected as our "expert judge’" who gets to share their comedy credentials and impressive opinions with the crowd.’

The first instalment in hosted by Amy Gledhill, pictured,  and features a headline set by  Clinton Baptiste as well as the six contestants.

Those taking part have been scouted by the NextUp team from the comedy circuit, so acts keen to apply t can email mia@nextupcomedy.com with details of future gigs to get on to their radar.

NextUp members can watch online or attend in person, full info is here: nextupcomedy.com/liveordie
