Canned Laughter returns to Regents Park

Open-air fundraisers in the capital this summer

Comics including Rose Matafeo, Jamali Maddix and Rosie Jones are taking part in two major fundraising gigs at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in London this summer.

The Canned Laughter shows follow the success of similar gigs last year which raised more than £7,000 for food banks in the capital.

Producers Berk’s Nest have put together two shows for Sunday June 15. The 6pm show will feature Suzi Ruffell, Rose Matafeo, Jen Brister, Jamali Maddix and Bridget Christie and the 9pm show will star Ed Gamble, Mawaan Rizwan, Kemah Bob, Lolly Adefope and Rosie Jones.

Since its inception in 2017, Canned Laughter has raised more than £40,000 for London food banks. In the year up to March 31, a record 2.5 million emergency food parcels were out by the Trussell Trust network. More than 14 million people in the UK live below the poverty line and the rise in food bank referrals has risen by 128 per cent in the last five years.

Kenny Tanner, co-founder of Canned Laughter, said: ‘After the phenomenal success of last year’s shows, it feels like a dream to be able to do this again with our friends at Berk’s Nest. We feel especially grateful to be able to provide a platform and raise awareness and funds for The Trussell Trust and London food banks, after this last year.’

Tickets, priced £25, are available from the Open Air Theatre website.
