In a new TV series

Stand-up Jim Gaffigan is to play the controversial former mayor of Toronto Rob Ford in a new US TV series.

Ford, who ran the city from 2010 to 2014, gained notoriety when he was caught on video smoking crack cocaine during his reelection campaign.

The series, described as a dark comedy, is being made for American cable channel AMC, Hollywood trade bible Variety reports.
