Comic Geraldine Hickey stars in mockumentary set in a sexual health clinic

Australian comedian Geraldine Hickey is to star in a new series of Comedy Shorts set in a sexual health clinic.

Antipodean broadcaster 9GO! has ordered eight, ten-minute episodes of mockumentary Metro Sexual.

Hickey stars as an aloof clinician alongside actor Riley Nottingham, who plays her more bubbly, customer service-driven colleague.

Up-and-coming comic Urvi Majumdar plays the receptionist while Rebecca Massey plays a ‘ball-busting superior from the Department of Health’. Guests stars include stand-up Joel Creasey.

Nicholas Kraak, of producers Humdrum Comedy, said: ‘From day one we’ve wanted to use Metro Sexual to start a conversation about sexual health. Humdrum Comedy is thrilled to be making this bitesize series with big laughs and an even bigger heart.’

Filming has just started in Melbourne on the series, which has been part-financed by  Screen Australia and Film Victoria.
