Jordan Gray speaks about life as a transgender woman

A former contestant on The Voice has been crowned the Colchester New Comedian of the year in Essex.

Organisers said Jordan Gray ‘talked with huge confidence and stage presence about life as a transgender woman’ – as well as her experiences on the BBC One talent show.

Gray, who was born in Tilbury and now lives in Southend, got to the semi-finals of last year's season of The Voice.

Second place was Thomas Edwards from Wivenhoe with his deconstruction comedy tropes. Brentwood's Josh James came third.

Finalists also included  A Bear  – an animal-based act from Colchester's Carl Denham.
