Here is the first picture of Vic Reeves in Coronation Street.

The ITV soap’s official Instagram account posted the picture of the comedian in his role as a TV presenter called Colin.

His character bonds with Mary Taylor and Norris Cole who are pretending to be married to try to win a trip around the globe.

Reeves, who will be credited under his real name,Jim Moir, also tweeted from the set yesterday, saying: ‘Had a brilliant first day on the cobbles. Everyone was so welcoming.’

The comic has initially been signed up for 20 episodes and when news of his casting was announced in May said: "I’ve been a lifelong fan of Corrie. In fact, I think I saw the very first one.

‘I try not to miss any episodes. I’m really looking forward to acting in Corrie. It’s a real thrill to be part of a British Institution.’

And the soap’s executive producer Kieran Roberts said: ‘Jim is such a well-loved entertainer and a brilliant actor so we're thrilled he's joining the cast of Coronation Street.'
