Rab C Nesbitt actor dies at 68

Sean Scanlan played Shug

Rab  C Nesbitt star Sean Scanlan has died at the age of 68, it has been reported.

The actor played Rab’s cousin Shug, who lives in England and adopts the RP accent – but turns very Scottish when he’s drunk.

He had been suffering from throat cancer, according to the Glasgow Evening Times.

Scanlan was married to actress Barbara Rafferty, who also starred in Nesbitt as Ella Cotter, and who said:  ‘He was funny, and so clever… Right until the end, he revealed an amazing sense of humour.’

He also appeared in 200 Acres Of Sky and River City.
