Will Hislop takes Musical Comedy crown

Dad Ian will be proud...

Will Hislop has won this year’s Musical Comedy Award.

The 23-year-old  comedian – son of Private Eye editor and Have I Got News For You captain Ian – triumphed at the final held in London’s Lyric Theatre last night,

Hislop, who is also half of the sketch duo Giants, performed in the guise o a Norwegian Eurovision entrant named Ulrich.

Tom Taylor was named runner-up, with Matt Hutson third. Taylor also won the audience award, with Two Plus Ones named best newcomers.

The other finalists were Friz Frizzle, Katie Pritchard, Rasputin’s Lunchbox,   Hurt & Anderson, Shitstorm and Jamie D’Souza.
