America remakes Ludwig

ABC orders a pilot episode

America’s ABC network has ordered a remake of Ludwig, which will be called Rabbit.

British comedian Humphrey Ker and his American wife Megan Ganz are writing a pilot episode – moving the setting from the university city of Cambridge, England, to the university city of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The US episode will follow the same premise as the David Mitchell BBC version, with a reclusive puzzle maker named Mark, aka ‘Rabbit’, posing as his homicide detective twin in a bid to solve the mystery of his disappearance.

Ganz co-created the Apple TV series Mythic Quest, which Ker, below, also wrote on. A member of sketch troupe The Penny Dreadfuls, Ker was until last month an executive director of Wrexham AFC, working under owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

Created by Mark Brotherhood, Ludwig is the most-watched show in Britain so far this year, with the season 2 opener attracting more than 9million viewers. It streams on BritBox in the US.
