Piglets gets the chop

ITV won't renew police training comedy

Police training school comedy Piglets has been dropped after two series.

ITV says there are ‘currently no plans’ for another run of the comedy, created by Green Wing producer Victoria Pile.

The show launched in 2024 amid some controversy over the title, which the Police Federation said was  ‘disgusting choice of language’.

The first series, which went out on ITV and ITVX, was seen by more than 7million viewers, when catch-up viewing is included. However,The Sun – which first reported its cancellation – said the second run, which aired on ITV2, had ‘disappointing’ ratings.

ITV said: ‘There are currently no plans for a third series of Piglets. We would like to thank all the cast and crew for their hard work in bringing these unforgettable characters and stories alive on screen.’

Mark Heap and Sarah Parish played training officers on the show,  ahead of a cast of young recruits played by the likes of Callie Cooke, Sam Pote, Sukh Kaur Ojla, Halema Hussain, Abdul Sessay and Jamie Bisping.

Pile wrote the show with Robert Harley, James Henry, Oriane Messina and Fay Rusling, who all previously worked on  Green Wing, and a number of newer writers.
