LONDON: In December 2022, Indian American comedian Kiran Deol was attacked outside a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles – leaving her requiring facial surgery after getting a bottle smashed in her face. Then followed an ordeal through the American legal system with the judge asking her whether she wants her attacker to be jailed or treated for mental health issues. She turned it into a comedy show within weeks, with the show Joysuck playing the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe. Now an updated version of the story, retitled Assault On Comedy, plays the Soho Theatre all week.
Wednesday May 13
LONDON: Opening at the King's Head in Islington, Churchill's Urinal is a new comedy play inspired by Rachel Reeves's real-life experiences as the first female Chancellor. Rosie Holt, known for playing a fictional MP online, plays the new incumbent of 11 Downing Street, determined to get rid of the ancient urinal in her grace-and-favour en-suite, as previously tinkled upon by a British icon. Holt also wrote the script, with additional material by Stewart Lee. Tickets.
LONDON: A typically strong line-up at the Moth Club in Hackney features Harriet Kemsley, Rachel Fairburn, Eric Rushton and Pravanya Pillay.

LONDON: Banana Cabaret's farewell season at The Bedford continues with Rhys James, Laura Smyth, Lucy Porter, Paul Thorne and Andrew Bird; while tomorrow's equally strong line-up comprises Jen Brister, Jimmy McGhie, Joe Wells, Laura Smyth and Luisa Omielan.
NORWICH: The bill at Epic Studios tonight comes recommended, featuring the dense wordplay of Glenn Moore, sharp-minded working-class-geezer Jack Skipper, provocateur Paul Chowdhry, and the affably sarcastic Tiff Stevenson.
Saturday May 16
BRISTOL: Sami Abu Wardeh, a Palestinian born in exile, tackles the problems facing his homeland, resistance and identity – all combined with silly clowning – in Palestine: Peace De Resistance, on at the Wardrobe Theatre tonight.
BATH: Canadian storyteller Glenn Wool, whip-smart writer Andrea Hubert and hugely enjoyable everyman Mick Ferry make up an appealing bill at Komedia.
