Horne Section to record a special

At the Royal Shakespeare Theatre

The Horne Section are to film their latest live show as a special, at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

After more than 60 dates, Alex Horne’s six-piece comedy band will perform the show for the last time over two performances on June 4, which will be recorded for posterity.

It has not yet been revealed where the special will be available, but Channel 4 has aired two series of their sitcom – and is also the home to Horne’s Taskmaster.

In 2018 a two-hour special, filmed at the London Palladium and called The Horne Section Television Programme aired on Dave, when that channel had the rights to Taskmaster.

The band have also appeared on The Last Leg, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and The Royal Variety Performance and made three series of Alex Horne Presents The Horne Section for BBC Radio 4.

The full line-up is: Horne (band leader), Joe Auckland (trumpet and banjo), Mark Brown (saxophone and guitar), Will Collier (bass), Ben Reynolds (drums and percussion) and Ed Sheldrake (keyboards).

Away from the band, individual members have played with artists including Robbie Williams, Madness, Florence and the Machine, Amy Winehouse, George Ezra and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

Tickets for the recording go on sale later today.
